Meet Ask RecRam: an assistant that reads your video responses

Ask RecRam, the new assistant in the RecRam dashboard, summarizing a form’s video responses into themes with quotes.

Video answers are the best part of RecRam, and the slowest part to get through. Forty responses can mean forty minutes of watching before you know what people actually said.

Ask RecRam is our answer to that. It’s a small assistant inside your dashboard that reads your responses for you and helps with the busywork around them. It never changes anything without asking you first.

It’s live now as a beta for every RecRam account, on every plan, including free trials.

In short

  • Open it anywhere: click the dark Ask RecRam button at the bottom of the screen, or press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows).
  • Ask about your responses: it reads text answers and the transcripts of video and voice answers, then sums them up with real quotes.
  • Let it do the busywork: it can create forms and folders, tag responses, publish or unpublish a form, invite a teammate and fill a Showcase wall.
  • You stay in charge: every change arrives as a card you approve or cancel. Nothing happens until you say so.

Open it from any page

Look for the dark Ask RecRam button at the bottom of the screen. It’s there in the dashboard, the form builder and Settings. Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) to open or close it, and Esc to close it. The window sits in the bottom-right corner, on top of the page rather than pushing it aside, so you can keep working while it answers.

It also knows where you are. On the Mainboard, the suggestions are about what came in today and your plan. Open a form’s responses and they change to “What are customers saying here?” and “Find and tag complaints”. In the form builder you’ll see “Add a video question” or “Simplify the questions”. Click one to get started, or just type your own question.

Ask about your responses

This is where it saves the most time. On a form’s responses page, ask “What are customers saying here?”. Ask RecRam reads the latest responses, including the transcripts of video and voice answers, and comes back with a short summary card: the main themes, how often each one comes up, and quotes from real responses.

The quotes are taken word for word from your responses, not paraphrased, so you can check each one against what the person actually said. Click a quote to open the full response.

You can ask in your own words, too. “Which responses mention pricing?” “What came in since Monday?” “How many people finished this form?” It replies in the language you write in.

On a form's responses page, Ask RecRam answers “What are customers saying here?” with a summary card. Each theme shows a share of responses, a short summary and a quote from a respondent.

It asks before it changes anything

Ask RecRam can do more than read. It can create a folder and move forms into it, tag responses, publish or unpublish a form, invite a teammate, and write a new form for you from a short brief.

Every one of those starts as a card. The card spells out exactly what will happen, for example Tag 6 responses with “pricing” or Invite sam@yourcompany.com as Editor, and gives you two buttons: Cancel, or the action itself. If you cancel, it tells you “Cancelled — nothing changed”, and it means it.

It also works with your permissions, never more. If your role can’t invite people, Ask RecRam can’t either. Changes it makes are recorded in your team’s activity log, so you can always see what happened and when.

Edit a form together

Open a form in the builder and ask for a change: “Add a video question before the end page”, “Make the questions shorter” or “Use our brand colours”. Ask RecRam prepares the change and shows it in the editor right away, with the changed steps outlined, while its card waits for your answer.

Apply keeps the change in the editor, but it still isn’t saved. You press Update yourself when you’re happy with it, and until then the live form your respondents see stays exactly as it was. Cancel puts the editor back the way it was. New forms Ask RecRam writes from scratch are saved unpublished, so nothing reaches your respondents until you publish it.

Fill a Showcase wall with your best clips

If your plan includes Showcase, open a wall and ask Ask RecRam to fill it: “Add our strongest testimonials”, or “Find people who talk about ease of use”. It searches the transcripts of your videos, picks clips from different people, leaves out complaints and test recordings, and suggests a trim for each one around the part that matters.

The proposed clips light up on the wall, and the card says why each one was picked. Approve it and the clips are added as a draft. Publishing the wall is still up to you.

What it won’t do

We gave Ask RecRam a short list of things it will never do: delete anything, change your plan or payment details, transfer ownership of an organization, or touch your API keys. It doesn’t work on conversational forms, Magnet, Captures or the Media Library yet. Ask it there and it will tell you plainly.

About your data

  • Ask RecRam reads text: written answers and the transcripts of video and voice answers. Video files and images are never sent to the AI model.
  • It only sees your own organization, and only what your role allows.
  • Your conversation isn’t stored on our servers. Your browser keeps the latest messages until you close the tab.
  • What respondents say is treated as data, never as instructions to the assistant.
  • It runs on Google’s Gemini models through Vertex AI. While it’s in beta, using it doesn’t take any AI credits.

Try it in a minute

  1. Open a form that already has a few responses.
  2. Press ⌘K, or click Ask RecRam at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Pick “What are customers saying here?”

It’s a beta, so it will sometimes get things wrong. That’s why it says so right under the input box, and why it asks before every change. If something looks off, or you want it to do something it can’t do yet, tell us. We read every message.

Open your dashboard and give it a try.
