What this guide covers
Once a Room conversation is running, you need to know where it stands and what to do next. This guide covers conversation history, message status, Room analytics, and following up when no reply arrives. It ends with fixes for missing replies, missing notifications, and analytics that don’t update.
Keep conversations structured by topic
Give each conversation a clear goal and keep it focused on that topic. When you start a conversation, confirm the contact and the conversation goal first. A focused thread is easier to review later and easier for the contact to answer.
Use conversation history
Room keeps the full conversation history, so you and the contact can see earlier messages and replies in context before you respond.
Track message status
Message status shows three signals:
- Unread
- Total Messages
- Media Files
Track Room analytics
Room analytics show Total Views and Unique Visitors. Check them, together with message status, after you send test messages and before you decide on a follow-up.
Follow up when no reply arrives
- Check message status and analytics for the conversation.
- Follow up on a standard schedule so every conversation gets the same treatment.
- In the follow-up, restate the reply format you expect and give clear instructions.
- Offer a lower-effort format, such as Voice or Text, if you asked for video.
Troubleshooting
Use the same method for each of the problems below:
- Reproduce the issue with one controlled test. Send a test message and reply from a browser yourself.
- Confirm the prerequisite settings: permissions, the reply formats you asked for, and how you shared the Room.
- Apply the smallest fix first, then retest with the same scenario.
- Retest in each browser and device after every fix.
- Write down the root cause and add it to your Room checklist.
The invite was sent but no reply arrived
Check message status and analytics first, then follow up as described above. Make sure the contact can reply from their browser, and offer Voice or Text as an alternative to video.
Notifications are missing
Send yourself a test message and reply to it to see whether the notification arrives, then follow the method above.
Room analytics are not updating as expected
Run a controlled test (open the Room yourself, then check Total Views and Unique Visitors) and compare the result with what you expected.
Common mistakes
- Changing several settings at once and losing track of what fixed the problem.
- Skipping browser and device retests after each fix.
- Following up inconsistently, or not at all.
